Uses of Fenugreek in Siddha Medicine

The parts like leaves as well as the seed of the fenugreek are used in Siddha medicine to cure various diseases.

Acid Reflux / Heart burn and Ulcer

Consuming a tea spoon of fenugreek with water before food is an effective medicine for the acid reflux or heart burn. This remedy also works against ulcer.

Abdominal pain due to Indigestion

Take a tea spoon of fenugreek with buttermilk is a good remedy for the abdominal pain caused by indigestion and which is also effective in reducing the effect of diarrhea.

Asthma

Take a cup of fenugreek decoction with a spoonful of honey and fresh ginger juice. This formulation acts as an excellent expectorant.

Cardiovascular Problems / Heart Problems

Consuming a teaspoon of fenugreek daily in our diet lowers the cholesterol level especially it reduces the Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). The presence of galactomannan in fenugreek will lowers the risk of heart attack.

The potassium present in fenugreek helps control heart rate and blood pressure.

Lactating Women

Fenugreek is a wonderful medicine for Lactating Women.

Two tea spoon of fenugreek powder mixed with rice water or consuming fenugreek powder with milk 3 times a day increases the milk production by enhancing the glands.

Menstrual Problems

Consuming a teaspoon of fenugreek powder with thunder coconut water controls menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) and dysmenorrhea (menstruation pain).

Leucorrhoea

Drinking water mixed with Fenugreek powder controls the leucorrhoea (whitish or yellowish vaginal discharge), body heat, and stomach pain.

Take 2 to 3 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds and boil it with a liter of water on a low flame creates the decoction. Consuming the decoction controls the leucorrhoea.

Breast Enlargement

Fenugreek is used to enlarge the breast naturally by balancing the hormones in women. The Oestrogen like property of fenugreek helps in breast enlargement.

Take necessary amount of Fenugreek powder with water and form it like a paste. Applying and massage the Fenugreek paste on breast and wash it after 30 minutes helps in enhancing the breast size naturally.

Diabetes

Fenugreek contains amino acid which is responsible for inducing the production of insulin in our body and the Galactomannan present in fenugreek controls the rate of sugar absorption in the blood.

Take some dried fenugreek leaves and seeds in 1 cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Filter/Strain the liquid and drink the resulting tea twice a day helps to lower the blood glucose levels.

Soak a little amount of fenugreek seeds in water and leave it overnight. Drink the water along with the seeds in empty stomach.

Cough

Add some Fenugreek, Thoodhuvalai (Remove the thorns before use), Dried Ginger (Sukku), Pepper (Milagu) and Long pepper (Thippili) in water and boiling it for half an hour and consuming the decoction is a good remedy for cough.

Fever

Two or Three tea spoons of honey with lime juice minimize the effect of fever.

Eczema / Inflammations

Take necessary amount of fenugreek powder and mix it with warm water to form a paste. Applying the paste on the affected area reduces the Eczema.

Joint Pains

Consuming a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds powder with lukewarm water gives relief from joint pain.

Dandruff and Hair growth

Soak a little amount of fenugreek seeds in water and leave it overnight, grind the seeds and form it as a paste. Applying the paste on hair and massaging and washing it in a cold water reduces the dandruff and helps hair growth.

Acne and Blackheads

Fenugreek also reduces the Acne and Blackheads. Take some leaves of Fenugreek and form it as a paste by grinding. Applying the paste on the face and washing it with cold water prevents the Acne, Blackheads, Pimples, Wrinkles, etc.
